The documentation of the ZUGFeRD format has been carried out in the best knowledge. All necessary measures have been adopted in order to ensure that all related information for the ZUGFeRD format can be considered correct. The AWV e.V. perpetually checks and updates the information on the ZUGFeRD format. The AWV e.V. reserves the right for modifications and supplements on the provided documentation as it may see fit.
AWV e.V. assumes no liability or warranty for up-to-dateness, validity and integrity for the provided documentation of the ZUGFeRD format. Installation and usage of the ZUGFeRD format is at your own risk. Apart from cases of wilful misconduct or culpable negligence AWV e.V. assumes neither liability for loss of use, lost profits, data loss, loss of communication, profit and/or contract cuts or for costs, damages, losses and any liability in connection with a interruption of business activity, nor for specific incidentally accrued or indirect damages, punitive or consequential damages, not even if the possibility of costs, losses or damages could have been anticipated. In particular, AWV e.V. assumes no liability or warranty for up-to-dateness, validity and integrity for the conversion of the ZUGFeRD format into an application for transmission, determination or creation of invoice data.
The ZUGFeRD 2.2 specification is based on the European standard EN 16931. The DIN permits the free use of the parts EN 16931-1: 2017-06 and CEN / TS 16931-2: 2017-06 of the standard under the following conditions:

ZUGFeRD specification copyright
Content and structure of the ZUGFeRD specification is protected by copyright. Multiplication of information or data, especially the usage of texts, parts of texts or pictorial material requires the approval by AWV e.V.
Usage of “FeRD” and “ZUGFeRD” word and figurative mark
Both word and figurative mark of “FeRD” and “ZUGFeRD” are protected by copyrights. The use of the ZUGFeRD logo is possible in compliance with the requirements for logo use.
DIN has made the following provisions regarding the use of the standard and the use of derivatives: Users are permitted to use this publication for further development. Developed applications based on this publication or using information from this publication must contain a statement that visibly indicates to the users that this is an application of the publication and that it states at the same time that such reproduction is permitted with the permission of CEN and DIN Owner of the copyright is done.
To this end, FeRD offers all companies, public administration organizations and end users a license to use the copyrighted ZUGFeRD format on fair, appropriate and non-discriminatory terms.

By constantly observing the aforementioned rights of use, the FeRD grants a license for the use of the copyrighted ZUGFeRD format in the respectively valid and accepted version (www.ferd-net.de).
The license includes an irrevocable right of use including the right to further development, further processing and connection with other products.
In particular, the license applies to the development, design, manufacture, sale, use or otherwise use of the ZUGFeRD format for hardware and / or software products as well as other applications and services.
This license does not include the essential patents of the members of FeRD. Essential patents are patents and patent applications to be understood worldwide, which include one or more claims, which are necessary claims. Necessary claims are only those claims of the principal patents that would necessarily be violated by the implementation of the ZUGFeRD format.
The licensee is entitled to grant its respective group companies an unlimited, worldwide, non-transferable, irrevocable right of use, including the right to further development, further processing and connection with other products.
The license is provided free of charge.
